The Division: Late to the Party
excerpt from wiki:
"Tom Clancy's The Division is an online-only action role-playing video game developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft, with assistance from Red Storm Entertainment, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It was announced during Ubisoft's E3 2013 press conference, and was released worldwide on 8 March 2016. It is set in a near future New York City in the aftermath of a smallpox pandemic; the player, who is an agent of the eponymous Strategic Homeland Division, commonly referred to as simply "The Division", is tasked with helping the group rebuild its operations in Manhattan, investigate the nature of the outbreak, and combating criminal activity in its wake. The Division is structured with elements of role-playing games, as well as collaborative and player versus player online multiplayer."
I got into The Division, fashionably late, early August, almost 18 months after its initial release. I got the Gold Edition (for MYR21) as a bundled promotion for 1 year PS+ renewal at MYR150 (normally priced at MYR129 for 12-months subscription. Almost a-year and a half late?
Well, it turns out that, the latest version, patch 1.7 has improved upon the original release so much, that it made the original seems so archaic in many ways. Kudos to Massive for the regular updates and improvements to the game.
Even though the game is geared towards multiplayer, I enjoyed playing the campaign solo....and now I am still playing it daily, the end-game content. The main story is engaging and the game world looks beautiful. This makes the daily chase for loot less of a grind.
Perhaps the biggest win for me is that The Division is keeping me from buying Destiny 2. As the hype for Destiny 2 kept building towards its September launch, The Division managed to keep me engaged till today. I might look into playing Destiny 2 some day...maybe not.
The Division, is not a perfect game, but it is well worth the price of admission. I look forward to patch 1.8 and more Global Events from The Division.
