As it turns out, Sony and Microsoft both launched their consoles in 2020 with hidden exclusive game, called "Can you get one at MSRP?"
The pandemic, production interruption / component shortages and profiteering made it near impossible to get one at launch...even months after launch.
After four months of running online pre-order shoot-outs, several lucky draws and dodging greedy scalpers,
I finally got myself a PS5 by sheer patience...waitlisted since November 2020.
I collected my PS5 bright and early, in orderly fashion without any major drama.
My initial impressions, looks fine, definitely better standing vertical, quiet except when the occassional disc drive spinning up. Games load quicker, some zippingly fast...storage can be a bit of a squeeze if you install too many PS4 games on it without proper planning.
The UI is quick, well-designed in some, but has its fair share of quirks - shutdown takes too many presses, PS4 to PS5 game upgrades/versions. The game library looks confusing, some games seemed to be locked (me having store accounts on multiple regions probably contributed to this).
Anyway, I am just glad that I completed my waiting game and stepped into the new generation with tons of back catalog PS4 games that I want to try and finish and many more PS5 games to look forward to.
I hope you get yours soon!
