Post TGS Trauma

Last week was filled with the excitement and cool news from TGS 2005, from Tokyo.
XBOX360 and PS3 are looking to bring a new level of realism to gaming. Nintendo is hoping for a 'revolution' with their new ways to control games. I also like their vision of cultivating creativity and being the platform for smaller budgeted software development companies.

Ghost Recon 3, MGS4, Gears of War, Blue Dragon are some of the games that I am looking forward to. What's the story about old man Snake?

I really hope that the next-gen games will not only be better graphics and sound. One key element that lends realism to gaming is continuity. Nothing jerks you back to reality compared to the 'Now Loading...' screen.

I am playing Age of Empires III demo for the N-th time, trying to get by another week of slow wait for new games to arrive. Don't get me wrong. The game is shaping up to be another great release from Ensemble, incorporating RPG-like city building and strategy into the well known Age of Empire franchise.

Apart from that, I am also playing Lumines on my PSP while waiting and saving up for better
games to arrive. Now I regret rushing to update my PSP to 2.0 firmware. After the initial few months of excitement with my PSP, I am now slowly regretting my decision to buy it. I could have saved the money to get myself a XBOX360 instead.

Genji, SOCOM3, RE4, Indigo Prophecy, AOE3, Shadow of the Collossus and Soul Calibur 3 are some of the near term releases that I am looking forward to. Meanwhile, I'll take my regular dosage of latest US TV releases. LOST, Season 2 just started yesterday and ALIAS Season 5 starting next week. Besides that, I have also started on another hobby while waiting, gardening.
You heard it right.

Stay tuned...
